My purpose for applying to the Director of Student Affairs position is to help bring students closer into the Harvard experience by aligning their needs with the academic, personal health and wellbeing, and support services available to them. I want to help enhance the student experience to increase student retention, graduation, and overall success in their academic, personal, and professional lives.
My goal in this position is to serve as an active listener to gain a personal understanding of what students need on an individual basis, and as an aggregate, and through that understanding apply how to best meet those needs through coordinating the opportunities and resources available to them through both HES, and the greater Harvard community. If there is a void in what is currently available, I will work with the administration to expand or create services to meet those needs.
In addition to helping coordinate resources, I will strive to showcase the community building opportunities that Harvard Extension School offers by working with the Harvard Extension School Clubs, Societies, and university-wide student groups to develop programs, events, and services that promote academic success, inclusivity, and wellness.
